Lough Neagh ranks amoungst the largest freshwater lakes in Europe covering an area of approximately 148 square miles with an average depth of just 8.9 meters up to a depth of 34 meters at it's deepest and is reputed to be very shallow for its size.

The lough offers many commercial and leisure attractions along its border such as water sports and recreation at the many marinas, angling, bird watching, walking, cycling, horse riding and varied historic places of interest.

Attractions on the lough waters include Coney Island to the South West with historic places of interest, such as Coney Cottage, O‘Neill‘s Tower, an Anglo/Norman Motte and Saint Patrick‘s Stone where he once rested during his travels.
